As of November 15, 2024, Blooming Buildings can officially call itself a certified B Corp company! This places us among names like Triodos, Tony Chocolonely, Paul de Ruiter Architects, and Vink Bouw. And we are proud of it: the certification is a wonderful recognition of our mission to make cities greener, healthier, and climate-resilient (read more about our mission and vision).
B Corp stands for Benefits Corporation. It is a certification for companies that not only aim for profit but also create measurable positive impacts on the planet and society. This certification demonstrates compliance with the highest standards of sustainability, ethics, and transparency. It is awarded by B Lab, which has developed a unique method to measure the complete social and environmental impact of organizations.
Through a thorough assessment, B Lab assigns points. Blooming Buildings scored 91.2 points in total, significantly surpassing the required 80 points. Perhaps our biggest strength: the Biodiversity Net Gain*, which measures the degree to which we add biodiversity to urban areas. On average, we use 176 different plant species, providing a huge boost to biodiversity. Read more about the contribution of plants to the planet, people and society.
*Measured using this method.

Want to know more about our journey to B Corp certification or explore how we can further improve sustainability? We have two Doriens in-house who were closely involved in achieving this milestone. One is a climate expert who knows all about the ecological impact of our projects. The other is an impact manager helping us to make processes more sustainable, quantify effects, and connect green initiatives.
