Tobias combines a strong background in Environmental Science and Future Planet Studies with years of experience at a leading consultancy firm. The perfect foundation to translate Blooming Buildings’ green ambitions into the business world. He currently lives on one of Amsterdam’s busiest streets, but having grown up in the forested surroundings of Amersfoort, his love for greenery comes naturally. Above that, he knows he needs nature to stay grounded. During his studies, he focused on making the global food system more sustainable. The integrated, interdisciplinary approach he developed there aligns seamlessly with our holistic view of urban nature. As a project manager, Tobias helps clarify both the ecological and economic value that greenery brings. For him, this is the method, but never the end goal. The true question remains: how can we fight climate change and shape society in a future-proof way?

Charlotte is both Head of Design and Architect at Blooming Buildings. Her diverse background offers a unique perspective that helps strike the perfect balance between architectural integrity and green value. Lees meer…
Living in an increasingly green neighborhood in Rotterdam, Charlotte sees every day what nature can do for the urban environment—how it fosters social cohesion and acts as a buffer against heat stress, flooding, and biodiversity loss. She sees Blooming Buildings as the ideal player to green the space between private front gardens and large public parks.Charlotte is both Head of Design and Architect at Blooming Buildings. Her broad range of studies—interior design, furniture making, spatial design, and a Master’s in Architecture from the Academy of Architecture—have equipped her with a multidisciplinary perspective. During her master’s, she became deeply engaged with the relationship between architecture, landscape design, biodiversity, and climate adaptation. Her diverse background helps us discover smarter, more cost-effective ways for nature and architecture to enhance one another. She also speaks the language of the architects we collaborate with. Instead of separating landscape and building design, she merges the two. By being involved from the early concept phase, we’re able to create truly integrated solutions for building-based greenery. Caroline makes sure all our projects are in full bloom, 365 days a year. She manages our site teams and is herself head gardener for several projects, where she regularly takes photos (#nofilter) that you may spot on our socials. Caroline first joined Blooming Buildings as site manager of the Baxter Building, alongside her work as a coach and communications strategist. But she had already caught the “plant virus” a bit earlier: in 2018 she started volunteering at The Miracle Garden in Amsterdam’s Erasmus Park, not far from her home in Bos & Lommer. From there, she dove deeper into gardening and planting, taking courses in garden design and continuously expanding her knowledge. What excites her time and again is the power of well-chosen planting in public spaces: even people with little knowledge of greenery can fully enjoy it and often feel inspired to create something beautiful themselves. Which Caroline wholeheartedly encourages, because every square meter counts. With Blooming Buildings, she hopes to accelerate the growth of urban green spaces and inspire as many stakeholders as possible. Because good greenery—attractive for both people and wildlife—yields so much in return.
Office & Operations Manager
What our site managers do for our projects, Frederique does for the Blooming Team: creating the right conditions for everyone to flourish and bring out their very best. Lees meer…
A few years ago, Frederique stayed at a Bed & Breakfast on the edge of Amsterdam with an ecological butterfly garden. That’s where a seed was planted, and her awareness began to grow: insect populations are rapidly declining—something needs to change. After graduating in Fashion & Branding at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, she set off to travel through Central America. Along the way, she discovered that the fashion industry was not where she truly belonged. Growing up in the green surroundings of Zutphen along the IJssel, a love for nature had always come naturally. So when her mother spotted the Blooming Buildings vacancy on LinkedIn, she immediately knew: this role fits Frederique perfectly. An ambitious scale-up, with both space to make an impact and a strong need for more structure and support—this was exactly the right match. Frederique’s greatest passion is helping others thrive. What our site managers do for our projects, Frederique does for the Blooming Team: creating the right conditions for everyone to flourish and bring out their very best.

Introduced to concept development during a guest lecture for his Asset Management studies at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Mike found his interest piqued. Through mutual connections, he landed at Blooming Buildings, discovering exactly what he was seeking: a green developer not only focused on sustainability and climate adaptation but on the holistic picture. This includes aesthetic quality, the history of a building, the environment, social interaction, and the economic value that greenery can add. During his internship, Mike aims to learn how to financially quantify the positive impact of greenery. Moving from Hoorn to Amsterdam at 19 meant swapping a spacious garden for no garden at all. He misses the daily contact with nature, making him feel right at home in our office on Bloemgracht, where he flourishes just like the many plants surrounding us.

Inern Real Estate
Ties wants to be where real estate development and social impact come together. Lees meer…
Ties is studying Real Estate Management at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. Blooming Buildings crossed his path during a guest lecture. One that, unlike most, truly stuck with him. After a brief search, he realised that Blooming Buildings was the perfect fit for his personal ambitions, where real estate development and social impact come together. After secondary school, he took a gap year to study Cambridge English. His love for greenery began at a young age in Soestdijk. With the Soesterduinen just around the corner, he was always outdoors. That connection with nature felt completely natural. Until he moved to the city and he suddenly missed it. This realisation has become an important driving force in his work and ambitions. At Blooming Buildings, he values the diversity of projects, the warmth of the team, and the opportunity to learn something new every day. When Ties arrives at work, he doesn’t think: What shall I do today? but rather: What will I learn today?

After completing her studies in psychology and data science, Roza is now training to become an ecological garden designer. Because, as she puts it: “I want more green!” Coincidentally, that’s exactly what we want at Blooming Buildings, too. As a nature-loving data scientist, Roza was delighted to discover that the number of bees and butterflies has increased in recent years. With countless small pockets of urban nature, this turns out to be entirely possible — even among concrete and asphalt! Her love for nature began in Spain, where she first saw that food quite literally grows in the wild. The best part of her work as a maintenance manager at Blooming Buildings? Seeing new plants grow and bloom every week — and the spontaneous, enthusiastic reactions from people passing by.

Even in primary school, Margriet was the one responsible for the classroom plants. Her love of nature was something she grew up with. With a talent for the sciences, she initially went on to study Life Science & Technology in Delft. But realising she didn’t want to spend her entire career in a laboratory, she chose to tap into her creative side and study Interior Design & Styling at Saxion. For nearly ten years, she worked as a designer, project manager and account manager at a company specialising in office interiors. The birth of her daughter made her realise that other things in life truly matter. In her personal life, she had already been deeply involved with greenery and sustainability. At Blooming Buildings, she now creates designs that are not only visually appealing, but also have a deeper positive impact on people, the environment and biodiversity. Exactly what she was looking for.
