About the project

Royal Theater Carré is the most iconic theater in the Netherlands. Carré had the ambition to incorporate more nature into various spaces in and around the building to contribute to climate adaptation and create a nature-inclusive and biodiverse environment. We used planting to keep the building attractive and relevant: the public has an increasing demand for green surroundings. The outdoor spaces where artists and employees arrive and stay have been transformed into green oases, allowing them to experience the calm of nature amidst their hectic schedules. We also enhanced the interior spaces with a planting design that complements the classic and neo-Renaissance interior. As a result, these spaces have become even more enjoyable to be in, making the public even more eager to visit, thus also creating commercial value.
